Dr. Nelson Lee is a Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, Canada.  His research interests include Coronaviruses (SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV2), Influenza Viruses (seasonal, pandemic, avian), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and other Non-Influenza Respiratory Viruses (NIRV), severe pneumonia in the hospitalized adults; and epidemics and pandemics caused by emerging viruses. He has conducted a wide range of clinical and epidemiological studies and translational research on these topics. These include hospital and community-based epidemiological studies, outcome research, virus transmission, clinical trials on antivirals and host-directed therapeutics, and virokinetics and host response. His research works put an emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach, and multicenter, international collaborations. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed research articles and 15 book chapters, including papers in prestigious scientific journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet journals, BMJ, Nature Communications, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases, and European Respiratory Journal (https://publons.com/researcher/1356876/nelson-lee/publications/). Many of his research findings have been referenced in clinical guidance of international health authorities including CDC US, WHO, IDSA, etc., and he has received multiple academic awards and competitive research grants in recognition of his work. Throughout the years, he has been an active member in regional and international professional societies, and serving in conference scientific committees to promote the exchange of information, interaction of scientists, and collaborative efforts against infectious diseases. He has been an ISIRV Council member since 2015, and the scientific committee co-chair (clinical track) in the 2016 and 2019 OPTIONS conference.
