Incidence, Severity and Impact of Influenza 2016

This epidemiology conference aims to promote discussion among international scientists, healthcare professionals and public health officials about the assessment of the impact of epidemics of influenza and other respiratory viruses, including the incidence of infections, the clinical severity of infections and the consequent burden of morbidity and mortality.

This symposium on Neglected Influenza Viruses built on the success and retained the format of the first two meetings held in Florida (2010) and Dublin (2013). The conference explored the latest surveillance data, vaccination and control strategies, diagnostic techniques, experimental research data and epidemiological and economic impact studies relating to swine, canine and other non-human/non-avian influenza viruses. |

The conference took place in Japan from 4-6 June 2014. Resources from the meeting are now available to isirv members. The conference focussed on recent advances in understanding and mitigating the impact of respiratory virus infections, with a particular emphasis on clinical management. It provided a forum for clinicians, public health specialists, virologists, and medical scientists to present their research and discuss the latest advances in epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention and clinical management of influenza and other respiratory viruses. The format included plenary sessions with invited lectures, sessions for oral presentation of submitted papers and poster sessions.
