Dr Zaraket is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Experimental Pathology, Immunology, and Microbiology and a member of the Center for Infectious Diseases Research (CIDR) at the Faculty of Medicine, American University of Beirut. He has a BS in Pharmacy and received his PhD in Community Disease Control from Niigata University. He then he spent four years at the Division of Virology at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital where he did his postdoctoral training in influenza pathogenesis. Dr Zaraket’s research interests include molecular epidemiology and antiviral drug susceptibility of influenza and other respiratory viruses. He is also studying microbial co-infections and the interaction between viral pathogens and the sphingolipid pathway.
