CURRENCY:
The official Lebanese currency is the Lebanese pound or lira (LL). US dollars are widely used throughout the country. Major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club) are widely accepted throughout the country. ATMs are also widely available and will usually dispense both US dollars and Lebanese pounds.
ELECTRICITY:
Electricity is 220 volts, 50 Hz. A two-pin plug, with round pins is commonly used (Type C, similar to many European countries), but other types of plugs are also in use. Adapters may be needed and can be usually found in the market.

GMT +3 hours (April to September), when daylight saving time is observed.

LOCATION:
Lebanon is located in the Middle East, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, Syria and Palestine.

VISAS:
All visitors must have a valid passport and visa to enter Lebanon. Passports must be valid for at least six months. Visas can be obtained in advance at Lebanese embassies and consulates around the world. Nationals of many countries can also obtain business or tourist visas upon arrival at the Beirut Airport and at other ports of entry on the Lebanese border. Please check requirements with your nearest Lebanese embassy.

The airport is around 20 minutes (by taxi) from the
American University of Beirut (AUB)
LANGUAGE:
Arabic is the official language. English and French are widely spoken. Most signage is also in English.
CLIMATE:
The course is in May. It is usually warm at this time with the average temperature around 20.7 °C (69.26 °F).
