 ISIRV AWARDS                                                 The Geoffrey Schild Award         

This is a prestigious annual award for an outstanding early career investigator (within 10 years of their last degree) in the field of respiratory viruses. Allowance for absence for statutory family leave or illness will be given.

The award was established in 2020 in memory of Dr Geoffrey Schild, a founder member and former Chair of isirv and was created by a generous legacy from Geoffrey’s widow Tora. It will be presented at an appropriate isirv event.

Frequency
Once a year, isirv members will be invited to nominate suitable candidates, or self-nominate.
 
 
Selection
Once a nomination has been accepted by the Awards Committee, the applicant will be invited to:
  • provide a CV
  • describe how the Award will affect their career
  • enclose a supporting letter from their supervisor
  • agree to deliver a lecture at an isirv meeting

The selection process will be by the isirv Awards Committee.

 

Award
The award will cover all costs of attending an appropriate isirv meeting. The awardee's lecture will be acknowledged in the official Programme. A certificate will be presented in recognition of their achievement.
